Kindergarten Field Trip

Out of 20 volunteers, I was one of the lucky two that were chosen to go on a field trip with all of the Kindergarten classes.  Yay me.  The field trip was to Noah’s Landing, which is a lady’s house that she turned into a zoo.  Not kidding.  There was a peacock on her roof… here’s the picture to prove it…

048

It was that kind of place – animals running wild.  This was how we ate our lunch (or tried to)

080

Wilbur, a 350 pound pig, allowed to roam free, trying to eat the kids lunches.  The girls were terrified!  The boys loved it and “accidentally” kept dropping food so the pig wouldn’t go away!   He managed to eat someone’s sandwich, a ziploc bag and a brown paper bag.  He wasn’t picky.

084

The kids were allowed to pet most of the animals.  Their favorite was Coco Chanel, the brown skunk.  Yes, a skunk.

042

They were allowed to feed and pet the zebra, but were more concerned with the condition of his teeth.  All of the kids didn’t understand why no one was brushing this poor zebra’s nasty, brown teeth.

053

The peacock did eventually come down from the roof to put on a show for the kids and the female peacocks, who also roam freely.

064

I’m usually not a germaphobe, but places like this creep me out.  Thank goodness for this every 10 feet…

(On the day this picture was taken, 50+ 3rd grade students came down with a stomach bug – some even getting sick while standing in line to have their picture taken!  Kelsie’s class is much bigger than this.)

Kyle’s Baptism

Kyle was FINALLY baptized yesterday!  Seems like I’ve been planning this day for years and something always happens and we can’t get the family together.  Denni and Brian are his Godparents (Kyle calls them his “Fairy Godparents”), so they were down for the weekend, along with the Grandparents.

Soccer has started!

Our weekly schedule just got busier… Kyle is now playing baseball and soccer.  Because Kelsie has Girl Scouts every other Monday, I’m only able to make half of Kyle’s Monday night games.  He scored a goal in his first game last week, which earned him a big Slurpee!  He played really well during last night’s game.

Math & Science Night

For the first time, the kids school put on a Math & Science night for the Kindergarten classes and their parents.  The curriculum is changing next year, so these students will be getting more of math and science in their school days.  Why not make it fun for them!

Kyle loved all of the activities the teacher’s planned.  Hopefully he’ll continue to like it next year!

After 17 Years, Still Surprising Me…

And everyone else.  You’d think I’d know everything about Dave and then he does this…

Dave playing “Mustang Sally” at Rum Runners

It started with an innocent night out for a friend’s birthday.  We go to Rum Runners, not knowing it was Open Mic night, where you’re allowed to sing or play the instruments.  When I saw Dave get on stage, I thought for sure he’d be singing.  Boy was I wrong!  I have never heard him play the drums before and he played them almost perfectly!  The audio in the video isn’t the greatest and you can’t really hear him playing – all that you can hear is everyone laughing!  Trust me, he did a great job!

Kelsie picking a brain.  Kelsie and Katie picking a nose.  All good fun here.

Kelsie and Katie in the Hurricane Simulator.  Looks like the machine stayed on 18 MPH the entire time, but that’s enough wind to give you a bad hair day, right Katie?

Lots of fun had by the whole family!

Spring Break–Nashville, TN– Shopping for Boots

Back to our Spring Break trip…

We decided that while we were in TN, we’d buy some real cowboy boots.  You can find a boot shop on every street corner in Nashville!   The first shop we visited had some beautiful, EXPENSIVE boots.  I don’t think I’d ever pay $700 for a pair of shoes!  We lucked out and found a shop that offered “Buy 1, Get 2 Free”… right up Dave’s alley.

And every cowboy/cowgirl should have a hat to go with the boots…

Easter in NC

We had a great Easter weekend!  Dave’s parents, brother and sister-in-law came into town to celebrate with us.  We had Easter dinner Saturday night and the kids hunted eggs on Sunday.

Spring Break–Nashville, TN–Wedding Dress Shopping

We are back from a great trip to Nashville, TN to see my baby sister, Katie.  She is getting married this time next year, so we decided that while we were there (my Mom was there, too) we’d go wedding dress shopping.  I have to toot my own horn here and tell you that I was the one that picked her wedding dress.  TOOT TOOT!  We walked into the bridal shop and I immediately saw the dress and told my Mom that it was THE ONE!    It was the third one she tried on and by far the most beautiful one.  Here’s a picture of her in the dress…

NO WAY!  I’m not going to be the one to give the dress away!  Trust me, it’s beautiful!  The dress was made for her… she’s stunning in it!

More trip details and pictures to come!
