Kyle graduated from Kindergarten today. It was a great day for him and a sad day for me. Each week I have enjoyed working in his classroom 2 days a week. I have gotten to know each and every kid and have watched them grow and mature. Someone at the Graduation Ceremony today said that the kindergarten children were so funny – they would tell you whatever came to their mind, no matter what it was. This is SO true! Being in the classroom for the past 8 months, I have heard it all!
- “Are you in your thirties? My Mom is because her boobs are falling”
- “You’re probably not going to heaven because you wear pants.”
- “Do you ever not chew gum?”
- “He farted and put a booger on my carpet spot.”
AND MY FAVORITE… “Who pooped on the floor?” Yes, someone pooped on the classroom floor. Because no one admitted to it, the teacher’s assistant had to check every child’s underwear. Another reason that I could NEVER be a teacher. Oh, and the teacher and assistant never found out who pooped on the floor.
The kids presented me with a “Thank You” gift yesterday. It’s a picture holder cube with each of the kids thumb prints, painted to look like bees, holding a picture of the class.
Kyle learned so much this year. It amazes me that these kids graduate from Kindergarten knowing how to read. He earned the Congressional Reading Award for reading at least 100 books this year. He read 220 books! We’re proud of all that he has accomplished this year!
The Graduation Ceremony was really cute! Each child was announced to the crowd and they sung a few songs. Here’s my favorite…
“I am ready to “bee” in the First Grade!”
