Kyle’s New Room–The Big Reveal!

While Kyle was at his grandparents last week, Dave and I decided to re-do his bedroom.  Kyle kept telling us that he wanted a Star Wars room.  He was tired of the monkey room.  Here’s what he’s talking about…

Before he was born, I painted a money and vines on his walls.

Here is what his room looks like now…

Yeah, he’s pretty excited!

My Baby is Home!

Dave and I picked Kelsie up from camp Friday afternoon.  We missed her so much.  Thursday afternoon I received this card in the mail from her -

(Mom, I miss u a lot.  Don’t send me back.  I got so homesick that I threw up. xoxo Kels)

Thank goodness I got this Thursday.  If I would have gotten it earlier in the week, I think I would have picked her up!  She was excited to see us, even cried because she missed us.  I had to take a picture of that!!

Kelsie and one of her camp counselors, “Bow”.

Kelsie is now spending the week with her grandparents in MD.  Guess she didn’t miss us enough to come home to NC.

When The Kids Are Away… Mommy And Daddy Will Play!

And eat out every night, order dessert, go to the movies, go to Dairy Queen (the kids fav!), go to a concert, hang out with friends, NOT watch SpongeBob or iCarly… you get the idea!  I know all of this sounds nice, but we miss the kids terribly!  We’re picking Kelsie up today and driving to MD to get Kyle.

Dave and I went to the KISS/Motley Crue concert with some friends this week and had a GREAT time!  I’m not much of a fan of either bands.  I remember being scared of KISS as a child!  After seeing them perform, I’m slightly scared of them as an adult!  The vision of Gene Simmons spitting blood is something I can’t seem to get out of my head.  It was gross.

My Diaper Wreath

My friend is pregnant… with twins!  Better her than me.  I wanted to do a diaper cake for her shower, but came across this cute diaper wreath on Pinterest.

So, I thought I’d attempt to make one.  I think it turned out really cute.  The Mama-to-be thought it was store bought and loved it.

She’s having a girl and a boy, so I did one side boy stuff, the other side girl.  Her last name begins with “L” so I added the wooden letter in the middle.  Cute, huh!?

Girl Scout Camp

We shipped Kelsie off to camp on Sunday.  She’s at Girl Scout camp for the week.  She went last year and had fun, but was homesick.  The first thing she said to us when we picked her up last year was that she wasn’t coming back.  We made sure to send her with one of her friends this year… they can be homesick together.  The camp is beautiful – hiking, swimming in the lake and pool, campfires and crafts.  She’s a lucky girl!

This is where she’ll be sleeping for the week.  No electricity, no air…it was an oven in there!

She wasn’t happy that we were leaving.  Check out that forced fake smile.

We miss her so much already!

Playing With My New Toy!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE my new camera!  I can’t wait to take the class on how to use it properly.  So many buttons and functions… I wouldn’t know where to begin.

My Husband is the BEST!

And, no, he didn’t hijack this blog!  He was so sweet and bought me this…

I’m excited and overwhelmed at the same time.  I’ve already signed up for a photography class in August.  Time to read the instruction manual.  Talk to you in a few months!

A Day On The Lake

For the past few years we’ve been renting a pontoon boat at Lake Anna to celebrate Pap’s birthday.  We always luck out and have beautiful weather and a great time!

Kyle, Grandy and Kelsie

Pap was the first one to catch a fish!  The kids wouldn’t go near the water after that!

Happy Birthday Pap!

We traveled to VA this past weekend to celebrate Pap’s birthday (which is actually today).  We spent the day on the lake, fishing and swimming.  It was a nice weekend!

My 100th Post!

Wow!  My 100th post!  I knew my family would give me the material, but I didn’t think I would like blogging.  I have found that I LOVE it!  It also helps that my family enjoys keeping up with us, too!  I have written about so many things… family milestones, crafting, family trips, recipes, holidays, Kelsie’s music, and Kyle’s sports.   Duke has even made the blog!

I know there will be many more great stories and pictures to come!

Summer Chores…

Having an 8 and 5 year old has REALLY helped me out this summer… in the cleaning department!  I absolutely despise cleaning the house.  I decided that the kids are old enough to help with small chores around the house and receive a small allowance for completing them.  If they whine or complain about having to do the chores, no allowance.  I’ve only had to take allowance away once, so they’re doing pretty good.  Kyle actually asked if he could complete some of Kelsie’s chores!

Kelsie’s Birthday Party

We had Kelsie’s 9th birthday party this Saturday.  She invited some of her friends to our neighborhood pool.  It turned out to be one of the hottest days, just 105 degrees!  Thank goodness we had it later in the day.  I think it was only 95 degrees then!

I still can’t believe she’s going to be 9 years old!
