When I was a child, we used to get a day off of school to attend our county fair. We loved that day off from school. We don’t have a county fair in NC; not sure if it’s because we live so close to where the state fair is held (Raleigh, NC). The closest thing to a county fair is the Clayton Harvest and Music Festival – a gathering of local businesses, politicians, fancy cars and a handful of carnival rides and games. The kids seem to like it, even with not getting the day off from school to go.
